Some people will naturally come to have perfectly white, straight teeth. For everyone else, there are numerous dental treatments to achieve a great smile, including dental veneers.
How Do Veneers Work?
Veneers are essentially thin shells of porcelain. Our dentist in Delaware, OH will custom design your veneers, so they will match perfectly over the surface of your teeth. In addition to custom designing the shape, our dentist can also alter the shading so that they blend seamlessly with the rest of your teeth.
After you and Dr. Sheth have discussed the treatment, we can proceed with preparation. The dentist will need to remove a small amount, usually less than ½ millimeter, of enamel so that the veneer does not bulge too much past the other teeth. Anesthetic will be applied beforehand. After the tooth is prepared, it will take between two and four weeks for the lab to design the restoration. At that point, our dentist will bond the veneer to the tooth using a special cement.
What Are the Cosmetic Benefits?
There are a number of cosmetic issues porcelain veneers can be used to address. These include:
Another major benefit of getting a veneer is that it will be constructed out of porcelain. This is a great material to use because it resembles enamel perfectly. It is also non-porous, which means it is resistant against most stains. Therefore, you can have beautifully white veneers put into place and not have to worry about them degrading any time soon. In fact, with proper care, veneers can last up to 15 years.
