Traditionally when a crown is needed, it requires several appointments over a period of several weeks. The initial visit is when the dentist will determine that a crown is necessary, and another appointment is scheduled to prepare the tooth for the crown. At this appointment, a mold is taken of the tooth and sent to the lab for construction. Dr. Breiterman then places a temporary crown, and you return several weeks later to have the permanent crown placed.
For those who simply don’t have the time to visit the dentist three or four times, we have a new, more advanced option in which the crown is placed in one visit. Same day dental crowns are a valuable option for those who are busy.

If you are in good health, have a healthy root to bond the crown to and don’t have a lot of time for multiple visits to the dentist, you are likely a good candidate for a same day crown.
