If you could pick just one procedure that could help you get a brand new smile without orthodontics, implants, bridges or any kind of overly invasive procedure, would you believe that it is possible? With porcelain veneers, it is possible, and it happens every day. Read on for a quick guide on this treatment, the procedure and their numerous benefits.

What Are Veneers?

Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain that have been custom created to help you have a straighter, more even, whiter smile. They are placed on the teeth and permanently bonded to provide that winning smile for decades to come.

How Are Veneers Placed?

Although the process of placing veneers is not invasive, it still takes time and preparation. To begin, Dr. Miner removes a thin layer of enamel to make room for the veneer and determines the best shade to use to match your teeth. Then an impression of the teeth is taken to use in creating a custom fit. If necessary, this is the time the doctor places a temporary veneer. Once the materials have been fabricated, they are checked for fit and proper shape, modified according to your needs, and then bonded to the surface of the tooth with adhesive and light curing. After cleaning off any excess cement, your procedure is complete.

How Do I Care for My Veneers?

Caring for your veneers is simple, but does take some effort. You will be asked to brush and floss regularly, at least twice a day, using non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste. You may also need to avoid certain foods that could stain your teeth. Dr. Miner will remind you that you should never chew on any non-food items that could damage your natural teeth.
