When you have stained teeth—or worse, cracked or missing teeth—you probably find that your confidence is not as high as it used to be. If your teeth are missing, you might even have trouble speaking or chewing properly. There are several methods of cosmetic dentistry that can restore your smile, depending on how severe the problem is.

Teeth Whitening

If your teeth are relatively straight and do not have any cracks or chips, you may simply need a teeth whitening treatment to get a brighter smile. Our own Dr. Christopher Henninger can show you several shades and allow you to pick the one that best fits what you hope to achieve with your new smile. From there, you will have a series of treatments to whiten your teeth to your desired shade. The exact number of treatments will depend not only on the staining on your natural teeth, but also how much whiter you choose to go.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are a good choice if you have moderate damage such as a few chips, cracks or gaps between your teeth. Some people also choose to have them to cover dark spots because the veneers are resistant to further staining. Porcelain veneers are simply thin layers of porcelain permanently affixed to your teeth. However, they can be fragile, so if you are someone who grinds your teeth while you sleep, you may need to use a mouth guard at night.

Dental Implants

Dental implants offer a sort of two-for-one deal because they not only fix serious cosmetic issues such as multiple missing teeth, but they also restore functionality so you are able to speak properly and chew more thoroughly. Implants include a set of metal rods surgically placed into your jaw bone. The false teeth we create for you are then screwed onto the rods. Implants can last for the rest of your life when properly taken care of.
