Dental emergencies don’t always happen during business hours and time is of the essence when it comes to saving your teeth. There are many types of injuries that can be damaging to your oral health, and we encourage you to seek out emergency dental care from Dr. Subka for any of the following injuries. Even smaller injuries may have larger implications, and it is worth a visit to the dentist to ensure that your teeth are healthy.

Chipped, Cracked or Broken Teeth

Once the tooth is chipped, broken or cracked, apply a cold compress to the side of the face that is injured and rinse with warm water. Any time a tooth is chipped you should visit the dentist right away. If possible, wrap the tooth fragment in a wet towel or wet gauze and bring it with you to the dentist.

Broken Jaw

A broken jaw can be incredibly painful and have long-term implications for your teeth. If you fear your jaw is broken you should see a dental professional immediately. Place an ice pack or cold compress on the area immediately after the injury until you can get in to see a dentist.

Knocked Out or Loosened Teeth

If a tooth is knocked out or loosened, don’t waste any time. If you can get to the dentist fast enough, they may be able to save the natural tooth. If a tooth was completely knocked out, put it back in the socket if possible. Clean the tooth first if it is dirty but don’t scrub it or remove any tissue. If you can’t put the tooth back in the socket, hold it under your tongue and go to the dentist immediately.

Don’t take chances if the tooth is simply loosened because of trauma. Visit your dentist immediately so you can avoid needing a tooth extraction in Thousand Oaks, CA.
