Once a tooth has decayed to the point that it would be effective to have a crown placed, you may face several appointments over several weeks to get the permanent crown. Because this can be inconvenient and time-consuming for our patients that have tight schedules, we offer the benefits of CEREC® same-day dentistry to reduce the time you spend with the dentist.
Perfect for Simple Fixes
If you only have a slight crack or a tooth that is missing a filling, you may not require an in-depth crown, and the CEREC® technology allows for simple tooth restorations. Because we can turn the permanent fix around so quickly, many opt for this solution when the problem is simple.
No Need for Temporary Crown
With a traditional crown placement, you visit the dentist for the initial appointment to prep the tooth and have a mold taken. A temporary crown is then placed while the mold is sent to the laboratory, so a permanent crown can be created. After a few weeks, you come back to the office to have the permanent crown placed.
Because the CEREC® machine can create the permanent crown in the same day in our office, there is no need for multiple appointments or temporary crowns. This makes crowns even more convenient when they are necessary to repair a tooth.
Preserve Your Existing Tooth
Traditional crowns require that most of the existing tooth be eliminated before a permanent crown is placed. With the CEREC® technology, more of the natural tooth can be saved, which means less drilling and discomfort when a tooth is prepped for a crown.
