Step 2 – The Surgical Procedure: The patient is placed under anesthesia and holes are drilled into the upper and lower jawbones. Dental implants that look like metal screws are placed in the holes and allowed to protrude into the mouth. Depending on the number of implants that need to be placed, various metal accessories may also be placed in the mouth to help support and stabilize the implants.

Step 3 – Prostheses: Teeth and dental bridges are placed in the mouth and attached to the dental implants. These prostheses look and function almost exactly like regular teeth, so individuals wearing them can enjoy all their favorite foods.

Step 4 – Healing: The biggest advantage of pro-arch dentures is that they heal quite quickly and provide immediate function. Patients are usually able to eat within a day or two after surgery, though they may have some residual swelling and pain for a few days. Periodontists usually recommend follow-up visits every three months to ensure that there are no problems with the dentures.
